Guatemala Finca Apiario

The coffee plant is a beautiful thing: growing at high altitudes in gorgeous, green lush landscapes, the plants blossom with white flowers and cherries. At Finca Apiario in the hills of Huehuetenango, Guatemala, bees nestle inside these white flowers to pollinate.
Jorge Mendez is a very driven individual with a heavy focus in quality. He is the genius behind this operation: a coffee farm and apiary all in one. Hence the name Finca Apiario: Bee Farm.

At Case Study Coffee, relationships and community are important to us. We visit many of the farms that provide our coffee, getting to know the farmers on a personal level. This means that not only do we get to see the incredible places and people our coffees come from, we can also get the coffees that we love season after season.

We are proud to call Jorge’s farm a Relationship Farm. We use his Caturra/Catuei variety as a single origin espresso, alongside selling the delicious golden honey produced at Finca Apiario. The coffee, with tasting notes of fudge, red wine, and hops, has a unique profile that elicits a well-balanced flavor; the honey, a rich raw honey with natural fruit notes.
For the ultimate match up, the combination of the two is a dream: a Café Con Miel made with Jorge’s Coffee Blossom Honey, cinnamon, a pinch of salt, milk, and espresso. Our newest spring seasonal also includes this delicious honey, complimenting a caffeine-free Golden Milk tea latte.
