The descendants of the Incas that make up the Inga community have only recently begun farming coffee. The various smallholders around Aponte were forced into poppy production by various cartels, but, once their region became a safe zone, the Ingas turned to producing exemplary coffee. The extreme elevation of the community (2150 meters!), as well as the rich volcanic soil contribute to making Inga Aponte a very complex coffee, full of unique fruit flavors, heavy body, and satisfying sweetness.
