Nthimbiri FCS is a coffee cooperative founded in 1999 in Meru County, at the foot of Mount Kenya. Today, it brings together 1,198 smallholder farmers, including women and young producers, helping strengthen the local community while producing exceptional specialty coffee. The high elevation, rich volcanic soils, and cool mountain climate create ideal conditions for coffees with remarkable clarity and vibrant fruit character.
Coffee cherries are selectively handpicked at peak ripeness and delivered the same day to Ntongoro Factory. After careful sorting, the cherries are pulped, fermented for up to 36 hours, washed, graded, and dried under the sun until they reach the ideal moisture content. Every step is carefully managed to preserve consistency and highlight the unique character of the coffee.
The result is a beautifully balanced cup with notes of blackberry, red currant, and vanilla custard. Bright fruit sweetness, lively acidity, and a smooth, creamy finish make this a classic example of the expressive coffees that have made Kenya one of the world's most celebrated coffee origins.
